Ruth Stanley (née King) was the daughter of Heziah and Mrs. King, the sister of Hetty, Olivia, Alec and Roger King, the wife of Blair Stanley and the mother of Sara Stanley. She lived with her husband and their daughter in Montreal before she died of tuberculosis.
Ruth was born with a headstrong personality, which put her at odds with her oldest sister, Hetty - especially when she decided to marry Blair Stanley. Hetty thought he was irresponsible, and she even blamed him for Ruth's death.
