Pierre La Pierre was the son of Maggie MacPhee, the brother of Adele MacPhee, who is brother-in-law of Count Marek and the uncle of Suzette Moreau. In February 1907, Suzette visited him. She flirted with Gus Pike, causing tension between Gus and his girlfriend Felicity King. Before the dance on Valentine's Day Gus locked Suzette in a closet to be able to dance with Felicity undisturbed. When Suzette uncle found his niece, Felicity Gus showed the cold shoulder.
Because Greta Steig was too severe for Simon Tremayne and Pierre, she was dismissed as a housekeeper at the White Sands Hotel.
